OXENEX  /  THE STACK  /  X1 · GROUND LAYER

Infrastructure contracting.

Civil works and physical site preparation — the ground-layer work that precedes every cable, cabinet, and rack. Trenching, ducting, manholes, restoration, and the permit coordination that makes the rest possible.

What we do

Every network begins underground or in the fabric of a building. Before any fibre is blown, any switch is racked, any camera is mounted, there is ground that has to be opened, ducts that have to be laid, cabinets that need foundations, and permits that need to be pulled. This is the work that every other layer depends on — and the layer that's hardest to fix after the fact.

Oxenex operates infrastructure contracting with its own crews and equipment across Germany, Poland, and Lithuania. We don't subcontract the groundwork and hope for the best — we own the civil side end-to-end. Single point of accountability, consistent standards, and as-built documentation that actually matches what was put in the ground.

Our projects range from last-mile urban rollouts for regional ISPs to greenfield industrial sites requiring complete duct networks, cable chambers, and cabinet platforms. We can mobilise quickly, execute on schedule, and hand over a site that's ready for the active layer.

Where it fits in the stack

Infrastructure contracting sits at the base of the Oxenex stack — X1, the ground layer. Everything above it (fibre, networks, software, intelligence) assumes that this layer has been done correctly. If the trench is the wrong depth, the duct is damaged during backfill, or the cabinet foundation isn't level, every subsequent layer inherits the problem.

The difference between a build that ages well and one that fails quietly at year four is usually decisions made at this layer. We take it seriously.

Typical engagement

A typical X1 engagement begins with site survey and ends with signed-off as-built drawings and a handover to the X2 (connectivity) crew. Between those points: permit coordination with local authorities, civil works, cable installation or pre-installation of microduct, manhole and cabinet construction, and site restoration. Every step is documented; every metre is traceable.
